# Docustay and SignWell

As of 6 October 2026.

## SignWell

Hosted e-signature with a free plan, an API, audit trails and plans that are priced by the number of senders.

## Docustay

Hosted or self-hosted. The certificate page is on every signed copy, embedding is included, and a signer never needs an account.

## Where they differ

- SignWell prices by sender, so a growing team pays for each sender. Docustay's pricing page shows a flat workspace price.
- SignWell caps API documents per month on every plan. Docustay does not cap the API separately from your plan.
- SignWell lists integrations through Zapier and SMS delivery. Docustay does not offer those today.
- SignWell does not list a self-hosted edition on its pricing page; Docustay has one.

## Who should choose SignWell

Choose SignWell if you need an integration through Zapier, text message delivery of signing requests, or a long-running hosted product with a fixed set of plans and no self-hosting to think about. Its plans also list attestations that Docustay does not hold; if your buyer asks for them, read its Trust pages and ask.

## Who should choose Docustay

Choose Docustay if you want a flat price for the workspace instead of a price for each sender, an API that is not capped separately from your plan, and a choice between hosting and running it yourself. Signers never need an account, and every signed copy carries a certificate page and a seal anyone can check on the Verify page.

## How the money works

SignWell's free plan on the day this page was read had one sender, one template and three documents a month; Light was $10 a month on yearly billing for one sender and five templates; Business was $30 for three senders, with $12 to $15 for each extra sender. Its API allowance is counted in API documents a month: 15 on Light and 25 on Business. Docustay's free plan allows 15 documents a month and Pro is $39 a month for the whole workspace ($25 a month for founders who subscribe by the cut-off date on the Pricing page).

## What we cannot compare

SignWell is a closed hosted product. We have not tested it, and we compare only what its public pages state. If a detail matters to your decision, such as how a certificate looks or how long records are kept, check it on their site or ask them.

## Questions people ask

**Is there a self-hosted SignWell?**

Its pricing page does not list one. Docustay has a free self-host edition, with a yearly licence key for the Pro items.

**Does Docustay connect to Zapier?**

Not today. It has a REST API, signed webhooks and an embeddable signing form, which cover most automation, but if a no-code integration is the deciding factor, SignWell lists one.

**How do the free plans differ?**

On the day this page was read, SignWell's free plan listed three documents a month and one template; Docustay's free plan lists 15 documents a month. Compare the current numbers on both pricing pages.
