What counts
- A document is a sent document. A package of several documents counts once. Drafts, signers, reminders, resends and test mode never count. Documents are counted for each UTC calendar month.
- Free sends up to 15 documents a month. At that limit sending is blocked with a message about upgrading, and nothing is ever billed for going over.
- Email limits: Free sends up to 25 emails a day and Pro up to 500 emails a day.
- The API allows 600 requests a minute for each key. Past that it answers 429 with a Retry-After header. There are no per-call or per-API-document fees on any plan.
- Pro has no monthly document limit. It is for one organisation's own documents. If use is far above normal we contact you first, and there are no automatic overage bills.
- A paid month can be refunded within 14 days of a charge if you ask us.
- Existing customers get at least 12 months' notice before a price change applies to them. Founders keep their price as long as the subscription stays active.
- Cancel in one click on the Billing page. It ends at the end of the paid period and the page shows the end date. After cancelling you keep read and download access to sent and signed documents on Free, and you can export everything for 30 days.

Yes. Self-host Community is free. Self-host Pro is $160 a year per install for your own business and unlocks the Pro items.
Which licence is Docustay under?
The server and app are under the AGPL-3.0; the SDKs and the signing element are MIT. Using the API never makes your software AGPL.
When do I need a commercial licence?
When you want to embed Docustay in a product you sell or offer to others, white-label or resell it, or keep a private fork without publishing your changes. It is quoted from about $3,000 a year; use Contact.

What each plan is for
Free is for trying it properly and for low volume: fifteen documents a month, all the signing features, templates and your own email domain. Pro is for teams that send regularly and want more headroom, no Docustay line on signed copies, and no platform fee on payments. Self-hosted is for people who want everything on their own server.
No plan switches signing off. If you reach your monthly allowance on Free, you can still sign documents already sent; you cannot send new ones until the next month or until you upgrade.
How payments are charged
A payment field collects money through Stripe, into the Stripe account you connect. Stripe's own fees are Stripe's. Docustay adds two percent on Free and nothing on Pro. Docustay does not hold the money; it goes from the payer to your Stripe account.
Paying and cancelling
Pro is $39 a month for the whole workspace, billed monthly through Stripe, and it is not charged per user. Founders who subscribe by the cut-off date shown on the Pricing page (end of that day, Pacific time) pay $25 a month for as long as the subscription stays active; if a subscription ends and you subscribe again, the price then in force applies. You can cancel from the billing screen in the app and keep Pro until the end of what you paid for. Self-hosting is free; the yearly licence only unlocks the Pro items on your own server.
